This guide will show Apple Airport customers how to set up access to your WiFi Baby camera from OUTSIDE of your home WiFi network. Before starting the steps in this guide please follow our 10 Step Quick Start Guide for the basic setup of your WiFi Baby.
—————————————————————————————————————————
- Set a Static IP address for your camera.
- Go to your WiFi Baby’s login screen. Go to Settings> Network> Static IP Setup.
- Go to your WiFi Baby’s login screen. Go to Settings> Network> Static IP Setup.
- Enter EXACTLY what you see on this screen shot and click Apply.
** If you also are setting up a 2nd or 3rd camera, etc. you can use 10.0.1.202 and 10.0.1.203 for their IP addresses.**
3. Now you need to configure your router.
- On your Mac go to Spotlight (magnifying glass icon, upper right hand side) and search for Airport Utility.
- You will then see your Airport or Time Capsule icon. Click it and pick EDIT or Manual Setup.
The screen shots may look a bit different per versions but the “Port Mapping” idea is the same. We are telling your Airport Utility to look for connections coming from the Internet intended for the camera using an assigned “Port of Entry”, and send them to the camera (or cameras) on your WiFi network.
In this example we are using Port 8091.
Connections from the internet will be seen on Port 8091 and we will securely send them to your WiFi Baby’s static IP address of 10.0.1.201
** If you also are setting up a 2nd camera, etc. you can use 10.0.1.202 & Port 8092, 3rd camera 10.0.1.203 & Port 8093, etc. **
4. Click the NETWORK tab and, if the option is available, make sure “Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol” is checked. Your screen shot will look one of the two below.
- Click NETWORK OPTIONS at the bottom of the second example to make sure “Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol” is checked.
5. Click the “+” symbol to add WiFi Baby camera’s IP address and port. In this example we have named it “WiFi Baby” after clicking “+”. You will then see the next screen.
- Enter 8091 for both Public UDP and Public TCP Ports
- Enter your WiFi Baby camera’s static IP of 10.0.1.201 for Private IP Address
- Enter 80 for both Private UDP and Private TCP Ports (80 is the default for all your WiFi Baby cameras)
- Enter a name for your camera under Description (Example WiFi Baby) and click Save.
6. Hit update to complete.
7. Lastly find your mywifibaby url in the cameras settings.
- Go back to your web browser and log into your cameras Settings page.
- At the upper right click “System”
- Scroll down to the “Remote Viewing DDNS” section.
- Note the the name in the “Host name” field.
*** The screen shot above and the notes below are ONLY EXAMPLES as each device has a unique mywifibaby url, please use the URL assigned to your camera***
