Mac OSX 10.4, 10.5 Setup: Troubleshooting

Mac Setup Software Instructions for OSX 10.4 or 10.5 

If you are using now Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) or Lion (OSX 10.7) or Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8) operation systems, you should not have any issues with setup software.   To find out what OS you are running, just click on the apple icon on your desktop and choose “About This Mac.”

On older OS (Leopard, Tiger) for the software to work, you need to adjust your security settings and use a program already on your Mac called “Rosetta.”

Installation:

Tiger (10.4)

1.  Click on “System Preferences”

2.  Click on “Sharing” in the “Internet and Network” section

3.  Select “Firewall” tab then click “Advanced.”

4.  Make sure the check box next to “Block UDP Traffic” is un-ticked then click “OK.”

5.  Quit System Preferences and test the software again.

 Leopard (10.5)

1.  Click on “System Preferences”

2.  Click on “Security” in the “Personal” section

3.  Select the “Firewall” tab

4.  Select “Allow all incoming connections”

5.  Close the window and wait for about 30 seconds for the system to update.7.  You need to check the box next to “Open using Rosetta.”  Check the box go back to your desktop.  Repeat these steps to make sure that “Open using Rosetta” remained checked.

Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion (10.6, 10.7, 10.8 – should not need)

1.  Click on “System Preferences”

2.  Click on “Security” in the “Personal” section

3.  Select the “Firewall” tab then click on “Advanced Settings”

4.  Select “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections”

5.  Click on the “+” button, select the Y-Cam Setup program, click “Add.” You should now see “allow incoming connections” in the table.

6.  Close the window and wait 30 seconds for the system to update.

7. Hover your mouse over the software icon, press control, click your mouse and select “Get Info.”

8.  You need to check the box in the “General” section next to “Open using Rosetta.”  Check the box go back to your desktop.  Repeat these steps to make sure that “Open using Rosetta” remained checked.

9.  The software can now recognize your camera on your network.  Make sure the camera is plugged into your router for the set up process.  If it doesn’t recognize your camera immediately, hit “refresh” or quit and restart the setup program.
