1. What is the main difference between WiFi Baby and Luvion?

WiFi Baby is a wireless (wifi) network / internet-based camera that connects to your home wifi network like a laptop, iPhone or iPad. Both video and audio is password-protected and can be accessed on a wifi network or data plan locally (at home) or remotely (outside of home wifi network) by an iPhone, iPad, Android phones/tablets (OS 3.0 or above), Mac or PC.

Luvion is a secure digital-based video baby monitor with a 300 yard range (100 yards further than other digital video monitors) and suitable for home use or travel. Both the video and audio is private and secure by using a “pairing” function which is similar to Bluetooth. During the manual pairing process, the camera’s digital signal is authorized only with the included receiver – no other device can access the video and audio feed. The Luvion comes with its own smart-phone sized video receiver with a 3.5″ screen. It is not wifi network / internet-based, cannot be accessed by iOS devices, Mac or PC and cannot be accessed remotely.

3. Is the Luvion baby monitor (parent unit) compatible with the WiFi Baby camera? Or can I use the Luvion camera with my iPhone or Mac?

No, they are completely different systems using different technology. We partnered with Luvion to be able to offer our customers an alternative to our WiFi Baby product line so our site has an option that can work for all parents.

4. Why is having a 300 yard range (900 feet) important? Many others offer a 200 yard range and that sounds good enough for my home.

Range from camera to the video baby monitor (parent unit) is measured in “direct line of site.” Some monitors even list the range in feet to make the range seem impressive – 400-600 feet is a common claim. Obviously in a home the signal is subject to different floorplans, walls, levels, basements, stairways, closed doors, etc. With a 200 yard range, if your nursery is on the 3rd floor and you are monitoring from the 1st floor you may be reaching the breaking point or the monitor may not connect at all. The Luvion Grand Elite has 100 yards (300 feet ) more range than other video digital monitor on the market offering flexibility of monitoring for parents. It has been tested for range in different homes with the following setup:

5. Will the Luvion Grand Elite interfere with my home wifi network?

No, it will not interfere with your wifi network. This factor, and the flexibility of the 300 yard secure range were the main factors in deciding to partner with Luvion. We also sell a “Best of Both Worlds” option to purchase both the WiFi Baby and Luvion together for a discount of $60.

5. Do WiFi Baby or Luvion’s cameras offer remote pan and tilt?

The WiFi Baby and Luvion product line all offer a wide view and comes with an adjustable stand that can be put on a shelf, wall or ceiling mounted, and can be angled in any direction. It does not remotely pan and tilt. The cameras are designed to be placed/ mounted at least 3 feet away from the viewing subject for cord safety. 6. Is the Luvion Grand Elite suitable for travel? Can the Luvion camera and baby monitor (parent unit) run on battery?

Yes, the Luvion is perfect for travel. Both the camera and the baby monitor (parent unit) have the option to run on battery or an AC connection. The camera can run on 4 AA batteries if needed. The monitor has a recharging stand so the monitor is mobile during the day (size of smart phone so easily portable) and most users charge the monitor while using it by their bedside overnight.
